This is the first picture I have of my nephew Jason. He's snuggled down there in the womb of my sister, on the floor in front of the sofa. My boyfriend took this photo of my family in 1975, as verified by the facial hair on the men. (Facial hair on the women didn't appear until just a few years ago.)
That Carl was a trained photographer is no surprise when you consider that the flash went off in the mirror -- thereby hiding himself -- and there are no eye-hiding glares on the seven pairs of glasses in my family. There would have been more spectacles, but the progressive ones amongst us were wearing contact lenses, something I still can't do.
There are two parents here, three sons, two daughters, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and an exchange student. I leave it to you to sort us out.
Before Beth had Jason, I had a dream that she had given birth to a daughter. I give a lot of power to dreams, whether they deserve it or not, whether they want it or not. I was absolutely convinced that Beth's child would be a girl, so I was really surprised when Jason turned out to be a boy. I was so confused that for a minute or two, I truly thought I was an uncle.
I have a friend whose young daughter burst into tears when she found out she could not grow a beard like Daddy's when she grew up.
Life is difficult.

I recognize Jim,Beth, and you Barbra and your parents, the rest I do not.The last time I saw you all was when grandma Huckabone passed away. I don't remember the year.
I so enjoyed seeing the picture of Beth. Brings back alot of memories. I am going to send it to my sister.
Well, Grandma Huckabone passed away in 1975. Two brothers you don't recognize were 20 and 16 then. I imagine they were there, but don't remember for sure. You don't recognize the in-laws (they WERE there, the only time you've met them), nor the exchange student. (and, of course, Carl - hiding in the camera flash).
Oyez, Barbara. I have a shot of you in Grandpa's mustache. Care to have it?
This is one of my favorite pictures. Mom thought I was being a baby because I was so tired, but we all thought I had another 6 weeks to go --- NOT 2!
We missed Lennore at our last H.S. reunion!!
p.s. Jason was 6 or 7 weeks old at Grandma's funeral.
Huh. Why do Italian men grow mustaches? To look like their mothers, of course ;-)
Yoikes! A picture of Grandpa and me? Bring it on!
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I know that picture very well as well as the stories that went along with it. It's funny seeing my Dad withOUT a moustache, so seeing him WITH that 70's lip-hair is what I think of when I see him in my mind's eye. I do like that he had shaggy hair... He gets his hair cut every 3-4 weeks now (or when he can schedule a hair appointment with Amy... Being the hairdressers family means you get fewer haircuts since she's usually burned out...)
